Christians throughout the US will gather today for the National Day of Prayer. And as you pray for our nation and our nation’s leaders, we encourage you to also pray for Christians around the world suffering for following Christ. Pray for the persecuted church.

Name your greatest challenge today. Then make time to offer God the praise and thanksgiving He deserves. Ask His Spirit to strengthen your faith as you worship. R. C. Sproul said: “The issue of faith is not so much whether we believe in God, but whether we believe the God we believe in.”

VERSE OF THE WEEK “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word” (Isa 66:2). The things that may sap our ability to tremble before God’s word are many. Common to all of them is arrogance. We need to resolve to align our understandings and will with the lines of Scripture until we see more clearly how God looks at things from His sovereign and wise angle. Then, and only then, will we tremble at His Word.

One of WMBC global outreach missionaries in TawSaeng,Thailand -- the Beckners (Aaron, Karyn, Jonas, Elyssa and Micah). Add them to your prayers. They will be coming to America June 22 to October 1 starting off at their home base in Arkansas, and then taking road-trips to visit family, friends and supporters.

LADIES' PRAYER GROUP Friday, May 3, 11:30am-Noon. (We meet the first Friday of every month.) Join us as we pray for our church, our nation and our country. Add your voice (or even just your hearts) to our prayers -- there are many physical and spiritual needs that need prayer -- let's praise the Lord, give Him glory and place our petitions before Him.

Our value lies not in who we are but in Whose we are – we are members of the Body of Christ, stones and pillars in the temple, and we are assured of our eternal self-identity.

Grace is the act of God whereby He accepts you in your present condition. Grace is the Father finding favor with you because of the work of Another rather than because of your own. Grace is God receiving you completely and totally apart from your good deeds or bad deeds, your successes or failures.

You have been made free BY Christ so that you can live FOR Christ. Jesus didn’t die so you can be free to sin. He died so that you would be freed from sin. Freedom in Christ, then, isn’t freedom from Christ.

Today all Christians have a challenge: convincing the culture that Jesus’ resurrection is as relevant to our present and future as it was to our past. It’s time to make everyday Easter. How? Respect those who do not respect our Lord. The more people criticize us, the more they need our Lord. Be joyful in a joyless world.

The Church is to care for the people, guard the Word of God, and serve as the conscience of the nation.

Imagine a world without the miracle of Pentecost or the missionary work of Paul. Technology makes it possible for us to get God’s word to more people than ever before. Every Christian who uses his digital platform to share biblical truth is continuing the work begun by Paul and his fellow missionaries. At the same time, our personal relationships and personal interactions are central to fulfilling the great Commission to help bring the compassion of Jesus into the hearts of lost people hungry to encounter His grace.
